Six Sigma is a systematic, measurement-based methodology that focuses on process improvement and variation
reduction through the identification and removal of the causes of defects and errors. By eliminating variability
and defects which undermine product and service quality, Six Sigma can bring about vast improvements in
performance, profits, employee morale, quality of products and services and customer confidence.
Six Sigma seeks to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects
(errors) and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. It uses a set of quality management
methods, including statistical methods.
At the heart of the Six Sigma methodology is the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) model.
Six Sigma is applicable to all industrial sectors. Six Sigma has been implemented in many sectors including
manufacturing, enginering, financial, public and other service sectors.
Six Sigma is sometimes called different names in different industries but the principles, tools and applications
